The notion that boys benefit from sexting while girls carry the risk meant that the predominant narrative was that girls should ‘say no’ to sexting:

I: What would you advise someone, who was thinking of sending an image to a guy?

Ruby (16 F): Just think if it’s really worth it first.

Skye-Rose (16 F): Yeah, like your body is so like –

Ruby: At the end of the day, it’s like your choice, but you need to like think about that decision –

Skye-Rose: And my excuse is like, if you like me so much you want to see my body –

Ruby: Do it in person.

Skye-Rose: Do it in person or do it in real life, you can see it in real life. Not over pixels, and with that you can see whether they like you, or no, it’s better on here, I’m like no, no thank you.
